In the LOA* modality, there's a practice called "16 seconds." If you can hold a thought and its feeling for 16 seconds (or longer) you are on the way to having that thought become a reality ... you are telling the universe that that is what you want and desire.
Also, self-locking is a challenge and I need the re-enforcement. Thus I write my mantras. It helps keep me focused on a thought and feeling for more than 16 seconds and helps me stay locked'n'denied much longer than when I don't do this.
